Sassa SRD Website Back Online

As a new month begins, applicants of the R350 grant will be eager to check the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant website to see if they qualify for the crucial relief mechanism. However, over the past few days clients were unable to check their status.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) announced that the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R350 grant website is back online. This comes after the agency was conducting maintenance over the past weekend.

Sassa explained that the website was down due to technical challenges. They added that technicians were working to resolve the issues.

The outage, which began at 5 PM on Friday 24 July 2024 and lasted until Sunday 27 July 2024, was planned so the agency could conduct maintenance on the website. The maintenance also meant that the R350 Whatsapp chat number was inaccessible.

SRD grant applicants and beneficiaries will now be able to resume activities on the website. These activities include: making applications for the SRD grant, checking SRD grant status, checking grant payment dates and reasons as to why grant applications were rejected.

It’s important to note that clients will be required to confirm their applications every three months.

Sassa has reminded clients whose SRD grant applications were rejected that the agency no longer deals with R350 grant appeals. Appeals are now handled by the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA).
