July Sassa Grant Payments Start This Week

More than 18 million South Africans and permanent residents are expected to receive their social support grants this week. This is due to the start of a new month.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will begin distributing the July allocations of social support grants this week.

Sassa distributes the Older persons grants, Disability grant, Care Dependency grant and several child support grants from the second day of every new month.

However, because the second day of July took place over the weekend,  the grants will be distributed on the following working day. This is the case for this coming month and payments commence on Monday 4 July.

Here Are The Sassa Grant Payment Dates For July 2024

Older Persons Grant – Monday 4 July

Disability Grant – Tuesday 5 July

Children’s Grants – Wednesday 6 July

Sassa has called on grant recipients to make use of alternative cash collection options. This as some clients may experience challenges when attempting to access their grants when they are distributed this week.

The agency explained, “They [clients] can also access their money on any day during and after the payment without going to the pay points on the date specified. Your funds can be kept safely in your card and there is no need to draw all of it at once.”

Clients can use their Sassa cards at ATMs or supermarkets including Boxer, Pick ‘n Pay, U-save, Shoprite, Checkers and other outlets. This is because the Sassa card serves as a debit card.
