How Sassa R350 Grant Reconsiderations Will Be Paid

After rejecting a number of Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD Grant) applications, the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) opened an opportunity for rejected applicants to be reconsidered. However, some applicants are still awaiting payments.

Sassa has said that SRD grant applicants whose reconsideration applications outcome had been successful, will be paid accordingly.

It has been reported that the process has come to an end and those who qualify will start receiving their payment from Mid-June 2024. From that point onwards, payments will be made from month to month.

Beneficiaries are urged to be on the lookout for a bank notification. In a statement, the Agency explained:

DO NOT GO TO THE POST OFFICE FOR THE COLLECTION OF YOUR SRD GRANT. USE ANY APPROVED RETAIL OUTLET NAMELY PICK ‘N PAY, CHECKERS, SHOPRITE, BOXER, OR USAVE.

This comes after it had been reported that Sassa was experiencing issues in relation to social grant payments at some of its cash-out points. However, the Agency has come up with a plan of using selected retail outlets as an interim plan.

According to Sassa’s spokesperson, Paseka Letsatsi, beneficiaries that use their social grant cards can use access their money at any other bank of their choice.

Beneficiaries are encouraged to have their bank details confirmed, as outstanding payments will be cleared from the previous cycle,

Sassa has made it clear that they will do multiple payments in a month until the backlog is finalized.

After the Agency has concluded this process, monthly payments will resume as per usual. Beneficiaries are urged to check their bank notifications for payments.
