Beneficiaries in South Africa get monthly distributions of more than 18 million permanent grants. In a few months, the award payments to these recipients will increase.
Every month, more than 18 million permanent grants are given out by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa). From April 1, 2023, the value of these Sassa awards will rise.
Sassa offers a number of permanent grants, including those for older people, war veterans, people with disabilities, foster children, care dependents, child support, top-up child support, and grants in aid.
Except for the Child Support Top-up grant, the amount of money that grant recipients will get will increase once more in October 2023.

During the Budget Address in February, Enoch Godongwana, the finance minister, announced these grant increases.
The highest percentage of government spending, according to Godongwana, went toward old age and child assistance subsidies. Considering that the state expects the number of beneficiaries to increase during the following three years, this is.
The minister further stated that due to an increase in the number of recipients and the grant’s value, social grant spending will rise from R233 billion in 2022–2023 to R248.4 billion in 2025–2026.
