Regenesys Business School To Pledge 67 Bursaries For Mandela Day

Regenesys Business School is calling for sponsors to support their initiative of providing 67 bursaries to those across South Africa looking to further their education. The pledge came just in time for Mandela Day, a day dedicated to spending 67 minutes donating to those less fortunate.

In the spirit of Mandela Day, Regenesys Business School, a private institution located in Johannesburg, Gauteng, will be pledging 67 South Africans with bursaries to further their studies at higher education levels through the school’s EdforAll initiative.

Mandela Day is celebrated globally in honour of Nelson Mandela, with the main objective being to spend 67 minutes of the day doing something good. Common practices on Mandela Day include donating to charities, feeding the homeless, supporting the Nelson Mandela Foundation, community clean-ups, blood donations or buying a bed for someone in need.

This Mandela day , for their 67 minutes, Regenesys Business School decided to assist South Africa’s higher education funding crisis as well as those hoping to enter tertiary institutions, and hopefully alleviate some of the youth unemployment crisis simultaneously.

Regenesys’ CEO, Indherani Reddy, says the reason the school decided to bridge the gap between higher learning was because the eradication of poverty and crime in the country came to the top of the school’s mind.

“When we talked 67 minutes, over the years, I always see this lastminute.com, ‘what do we do to participate, to give back in memory of this icon that has served the world through South Africa and our democracy’; and 67 minutes had to go beyond just feeding, clothing, getting to an orphanage or bringing awareness around poverty and what we can do.

So Regenesys, together with EdforAll, which is the NPO (Non-Profit Organisation) arm of the Regenesys Business School, we said ‘instead of just doing 67 minutes, what about touching 67 lives that really brings about sustainability in a community that will never break away from poverty?'”

Reddy highlights how the EdforAll initiative is really for all, as it’s without the bias of gender or age surrounding it.

“All you need to do to take advantage of this initiative is to come from a background where you are financially disadvantaged to have access to education and put together a motivation as to why you deserve this opportunity.”

Once a student has completed the studies, the recruitment arm of the Regenesys Business School known as Dananda Talent, will help the student get a job and only once the individual starts earning a salary, will they begin paying back a percentage of the bursary. The amount required to pay back will depend on the person’s financial position.

The concept behind the EdforAll initiative is to equip people with the knowledge and skills to secure a job, or even create their own jobs through entrepreneurship.
